I recently had a customer ask me for some advice on aquiring hosting for his new network of feeder sites. For those of you who are not familiar with feeder sites, they are a number of smaller sites, blogs or online resource that allows you to feed traffic and backlinks to your main website. Squidoo and HubPages are examples of free resources you can use as feeders to create links and organic traffic to your money site. While free resources are great, finding niche long tail domains and setting up your own network of feeder sites can improve your SEO rankings as well as generating properties with potential for higher amounts of organic traffic.

Why are so many people jumping on the Groupon business model bandwagon?
I subscribe to a number of news alerts through Google and it seems that I am constantly reading articles about a brand new company that is trying to emulate Groupon’s business model of offering limited time, discounted deals to local customers. Groupon has become a major success story as they tested their business model in Chicago and then expanded into other major cities in the US and Canada. Now the company has sales representatives operating in over 250 markets in North America, South America, Asia and Europe.

Interesting article on the decline of newspaper advertising
I recently came across Marc Cenedella’s article on the decline of the newspaper help wanted revenues and how ad revenues in the US market have declined 92% over the last 10 years. He points out that in the mid-90s, many newspaper executives foresaw this threat to a steady revenue stream but chose not to think forward and dominate the industry with their resources as in doing so they would be competing against their own printed products.

Quora puts all other Internet Q&A sites to shame
I recently discovered Quora, a Q&A site that puts all others to shame, after reading an article in Business Insider in which Irene Au, head designer at Google, praises the site and its design. The article explained that Quora is above and beyond what you will find at sites such as Yahoo! Answers as they have more meaningful questions, less and the community continues to build on the answers so each question ends up reading like a professional article.
